Ursula Gullow
MFA Candidate

I am compelled by the visceral aspects of painting such as mark-making, seeping, dripping, mixing, mounding, and obliteration. My interest in materials has led me to incorporate other processes into my practice and find ways to resource old paintings into new projects.

My subject matter ranges from large impressionistic depictions of crowds to self-portraiture and still life from direct observation. My narrative paintings often reference famous works of art and my background in social theory underpins everything I do.
