Department of Art & Design
Graduate Review

FALL SEMESTER

Graduate Review

The Graduate Review is an annual department event that facilitates a dialogue between graduate students and faculty.  Students will have the opportunity to present work and discuss directions of current and future research.  Faculty will assess the strengths and weaknesses of work and provide feedback to aid students in development of artistic pursuits.

The review is relatively informal. There are no expectations for students to frame or matte work. Paper works can be pinned to the wall, paintings hung with nails or screws, and sculpture or ceramic work can use pedestals reserved from the Slocumb Galleries. If students wish to show digital images or videos, please input devices through the Smartroom projector.

Students should consult advisors to make artwork selections.  Works-in-progress and some images (picture documentation) can be used, but finished work is preferred.  Students will write an artist statement to accompany the work.  Notes or other prompts may be used by participants during the review.

All graduate students will be excused from classes to participate.  Students with conflicting classes outside the department must request an excused absence from instructors.  Faculty (including grads who teach) with conflicting classes will schedule a workday for students.
